Hello!
Thanks for visiting my site. My name is Paul Holloway, and I am a Lecturer in the Department of Geography at University College Cork and a Principal Investigator at the Environmental Research Institute at UCC. My areas of expertise include using Geographic Information Science & Systems, GeoComputation and Spatial Analysis to address a number of geographical, environmental, ecological issues. I am currently involved in several national and European funded projects, including grants from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Health Research Board, Science Foundation Ireland, and European Research Development Fund.
I spent a year as a Post-Doc in the Artificial Intelligence Group in the Department of Computer Science at the University of York where I worked on the development of an app that used data mining and machine learning to predict real-time agricultural pest spread in Europe and North America. I also obtained my PhD from the Department of Geography and the Environment at the University of Texas at Austin, where my research addressed the long-standing issue of how to incorporate movement at different spatial and temporal scales into species distribution models (SDMs).
Please check out information on my research and teaching, and if you have any comments or want to get in contact with me, please don't hesitate to do so. My email is [email protected]
Cheers
Paul
